Writing is easy! People say. Is it really so? Truth is that it is one of the most seriously done creative jobs. Those who write knows how much pain and helluva lot of skill is required to compose a good writing.

It has parameters in it which can tell you beforehand whether the piece you have written is really good enough! Not to mention, it even tells you if you have created the best composition: understandable and comprehensible to an average school going student.

After you have created a document and wish to know everything about it like: Words, Characters, Paragraphs, Sentences, Pages (approximate)and Readability. Click on the Tools tag and than on Word Count.

After you have clicked on the Word Count, you will something like this that I have created for one of my document.



You could see under the Readability, inside the red coloured box there are some parameters which determines readability level whether it is harder or easier to read and also the understandability of the created text.

Flesch Reading Ease:

According to Flesch Reading Ease, scores of 90.0–100.0 are considered easily understandable by an average 11-year old student.13- to 15-year old students could easily understand passages with a score of 60–70, and passages with results of 0–30 are best understood by college graduates.[citation needed] Reader's Digest magazine has a readability index of about 65, Time magazine scores about 52, and the Harvard Law Review has a general readability score in the low 30s. Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level is an obvious use for readability tests in the field of education. It translates the 0–100 score to a U.S. grade level, making it easier for teachers, parents, librarians, and others to judge the readability level of various books and texts. It can also mean the number of years of education generally required to understand this text. Friends, believe it or not, the Google's search browser do many jobs than what we take work from it. For example, besides churning out millions of results of your query, the search browser works as a true calculator ! and as a currency converter!

To effectively use this feature, you must know the operators and its functions. Have a look at it.

• Here "+" is the operator of the function "addition". Ex 3+44
• Same "-" is the operator of the function "subtraction". Ex 13-5
• * for multiplication. Ex 7*8
• / for division. Ex 12/3
• ^ for exponentiation (raise to a power of). Ex 8^2
• th root of calculates the nth root of a number. Ex 5th root of 32
• sqrt for square root. Ex sqrt(9)
• sin, cos, etc. trigonometric functions (numbers are assumed to be radians) sin(pi/3), tan(45 degrees)
• ln for logarithm base e ln(17)

To view a full header, click Full Headers in the lower-right corner of the page. A new window opens with the same message, but now also shows all the header information for that message at the top. See it? It’s got tons of computer gobbledygook, but it also has some information you can use.

You should be able to find a line that contains an 8 to 12 digit number, separated by periods. It might look something like this:

The "123.456.78.91" represents the unique IP address of the sender's ISP. Once you identify the IP address, you can run a "whois" search to determine which ISP provides this person with Internet access. If there’s more than one Received: line, read them from top to bottom (the topmost is the most recent.)

There are several utilities available on the web to run a whois search. Here's one web site that can help you to determine which service provider is responsible for the IP address.

We all understand the utility factor attached to the Email. It is one of the fastest, reliable and personalized modes of communication. But it has been found very few understand the nuts and bolts of this communication.

About the importance of Email, it is in everyone's knowledge the role it plays in our daily life. Imagine a world where there is no tool like Email. It would be horrifying and painstaking job to communicate what we do, presently with a simple click.

We all understand the utility factor attached to the Email. It is one of the fastest, reliable and personalized modes of communication. But it has been found very few understand the nuts and bolts of this communication. We merely compose, or attached what we want to communicate and send it. That's what it has been found.

At this time when Email is progressively used for business and for many purposes, not to mention it is being used for phishing and other malicious intentions. It is of utmost priority to understand the other "messages" besides what has been sent or received by you.

Every email comes with a “Header” which is one part of an e-mail structure; call it DNA of the mail. It carries the basic fundamental information such as from whom the email comes, to whom it is addressed, date/time it was sent and the subject of the email. It is similar to an electronic postmark. Moreover, it also carries other detailed information which we usually don’t see.

This basic information comes in all brief/basic headers that most email programs automatically shows. This detail technical information can be viewed in a full header. All email programs can be set to show only brief header or full header and it is up to the users to set the program whether to view only “brief header” or “full header”.

Full header carries the information of the mail server’s name that the email passed through on its way to the recipient, and sender's IP address and even the name of the email program and its version used.

Knowledge of this information is essential for analysis and investigation purposes on cases involving email abuse, spamming, harassment, forgeries and mail-bombing. It is worth mentioning, understanding of this tool would definitely help people to counter these attacks, and save themselves from unwarranted consequences. Well, this information could not be found in a brief header.

Here we will take the case of Google mail and Yahoo mail to find out the full header.

Google Mail.

Using your id/password, login to Gmail.
Open the mail for which you wish to find the full header of the sender.
Click on the inverted triangle placed just next to Reply.

Cyber-bullying, phishing and spamming have been proliferating; you may want to discontinue usage of some of the services that portals like Google/Yahoo provide; in such cases, you had better deactivate the services rather than staying away from them.

CYBER-BULLYING, phishing, and spamming have become the order of the day in the
internet world. Often, you avail yourself of services from Google / Yahoo. Some of the services you avail yourself of have to do with the voyeuristic streak in you and hence may have to be periodically deleted or deactivated or cancelled.

At the forefront of all services is the e-mail or the electronic mail, an introductory service that everybody availed of before entering the everywhere-anywhere world of cyber age. You may seek deletion or deactivation or cancellation of a service because you no longer like the service or the password you use to access the said service may have slipped into public domain or you may have be-come a victim of unsolicited bulk e-mail (spamming).

Many of us are inclined to believe that the best way possible to shield ourselves from such menaces is by simply staying away from (i.e. by not accessing) the account. By doing so, you are not doing any good to yourself. Anyone with your username and password will not only have a free run with your personal information and contacts but may also be involved in sending malicious mail using your identity; he / she may undertake data mining to collect email addresses; he / she may send unauthorised mail via open, third-party servers; he / she may upload, distribute or disseminate unlawful, defamatory, abusive, fraudulent, obscene, or otherwise objectionable content.

Not to mention the terrorists organizations which are prowling feverishly in the internet may get hold of your Email id and use it for their nefarious plans. It may be possible. So, before it is too late and you repent it is better to delete/ deactivate or cancel your Email account or any other services which you think has been compromised.

You must remember that the Email id is your property and you owe to it, and in this regard you are solely responsible for any content that you have created, transmitted or displayed while using the services; consequently you are liable of your actions by doing so.

You have your name in the Google/ Yahoo products. You must know how to delete/ deactivate or cancel your name and the online identity since not knowing the procedure would be like you know how to start a motorbike and you are able to ride it but you don’t know how to stop it. If this is the case you could be able to imagine what would happen to you after you started riding.

Here is the procedure to delete Google Mail service:

Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
Open the Accounts tab.
Click Google Account settings.
Click Edit next to My services on the right side.
Click Delete Gmail Service.
Once you close your Gmail account, you can’t reactivate it, and you won’t be able to retrieve any messages.

Here is the procedure to delete Yahoo Mail service:

Click My Account at the top of your Mail page, beneath your ID.
To make it sure it’s you, you have to again provide your password.
In the first section of the page that opens, click Manage My Premium Services.
In the “Service” column, locate “Yahoo! Mail Plus”. Along the same line, in the column on the far right – “Action” –click View Service Details.
Now, above the “Service Summary” box, in the upper-right area of the page, click Cancel Service.

Here’s what happens when you cancel Yahoo Mail service:

Service is terminated immediately upon cancellation request, and a pro-rated re-fund for the unused portion of the service is issued upon cancellation.

Your Yahoo! Mail account reverts to the free Mail storage size and other free features. If you cancel your Mail Plus, your account turns into a free Yahoo! Mail account that you can continue to use…minus the Mail Plus features. If you’re trying to delete your Yahoo! ID and/or Yahoo! Mail account, check out the Account Deletion page.

The rumour mill is catching up with the news of search engine Google launching its own mobile phone. We all know Google products are now available in some selected models of the mobile phone manufacturers. Google has so far maintained silence over the whole issue. But still seeing the amount of buzz., it cannot be denied forthrightly of the possibilities of a Google phone launch.

When search giant Google roar, the e-world reverberates. But this time the virtual world is responding feverishly with the buzz that Google is launching its own mobile phone, the G-Phone. So far, Google has denied that they are planning out any such things in the near future.

But the reports pouring out in the public domain are carrying all indications that Google has its own plan to play in this segment of mobile phone manufacturing. It was reported that Google is currently in talks with India's first and third largest telecos, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar, concerning the Google Phone. Nevertheless, it is not confirmed it is one another favorite mobile rumor or one having vital information.

Again, if one goes by the report of Rediff's India Abroad, Google has plans to invest $7-8 billion in its telephony plot. On this Google executives are mum all saying that the company is committed to providing users with access to the world's information, and mobile becomes more important to those efforts every day.

And as per the reports from both the BBC and The Wall Street Journal, it was noted that Google has outrightly refused to deny the handset rumors; rather, it simply reiterated that its users and partners are saying that they want Google search and Google applications on mobile, and it is working hard every day to deliver that.

And in this venture - providing Google search and Google applications on mobile - LG Electronics (LG), a leading worldwide provider of advanced wireless handsets and accessories, announced a global collaboration to pre-install Google’s services on millions of LG mobile phones. The features of LG-Google handsets include: Google Maps, Gmail, and Blogger Mobile.

Adding fuel to the rumour fire came from another report stating that HTC is being tapped to build a Linux-based Gphone to be launched on T-Mobile in the US in early 2008, with Orange getting the exclusive in France and other countries.

In an attempt to quell rumors of a Google phone. Richard Kimber, Google's South-East Asia managing director of sales and operations, says that Google is obviously investing in the software side of things, but that it has no interest in entertaining the crowded handset market.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt has even waxed rhapsodic about the possibilities of free handsets subsidized by Google ads. As always, rumorus are just rumours, till than we have to wait and see, but it's hard to ignore the amount of buzz that the Gphone's/ Googlephone is been getting. Even if the rumour wheel rotates in right direction and it becomes the truth, releasing a Googlephone would be a huge step for them, since ultimately Google's goal shouldn't be to have its own phone, but rather to be on every phone.

Year 2002: I appeared for my Mathematics (Honours) final exam; while slogging continually on the subject I “discovered” a mathematical relationship that supports the earlier established formulae (Tn and Un solution of Chebyshev Polynomial). In my opinion the formulae was simpler and satisfying the properties of the established one.

So to check whether the mathematics involved in the process was correct and is in connivance with the mathematical logic, I dropped at the precincts of the Gauhati University’ Mathematics Department (came very early before I officially graduated); and after reference and cross reference I met Mr R Deka, a specialist in Special Functions and showed my manuscripts.

After getting hold of my work the first thing he did, he sat in front of the computer and typed “Google”. The first thought that came across my mind was – what is Google? Since it was NOT in the conformity with the other mathematical lingo but look very similar to Gaussian surface, Gaussian polynomial etc..

You might be thinking what I am trying to say in this post. Well it was my first one-to-one interaction with the world of internet and computers. I did not know MSword at that time, but before I lay my hands on it I had burnt my fingers in Linux. Wheww!!!! Thanks in my attempt to publish the Mathematical formulae in the mathematical journals of mathematics – Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik (ZAMM) and Mathematische Nachrichten.

The year was 2002 – the year Google launched Adwords, Google News, Google Labs and Froogle. Since then I have been floating, continually sailing in the sea of websites, know and unknown websites, brand websites, rag websites, astonishing websites, depressing websites and what not, all in the name of internet.

I always thought what would be the names of the websites that showed their presence in the early days of internet. How do they look? And what they were providing? But SORRY I always came blank with answers.

Who were the people who were using the net at that prehistoric time? Guess who was browsing the net at that time, I found Al Gore. You know Al Gore? After reading this I would suggest – Don’t feel you are getting old and please don’t get scared.

The Death of a teeneger has again pumped oxygen to the Orkut fire

THE GENIE OF the Orkut is back. This time with the untimely murder of a teeneger by his own "Orkut" friends. It is not the first time the social networking site has been dragged into the limelight. Few months back, thanks to Shiv Sena’s call to ban the Google’s social networking site it was in the news. At that time the Shiv Sena alleged that certain ‘communities’ have been using this common platform (Orkut) for insulting the party Supremo Bal Thackeray and Maratha idol, Shivaji.

The present hullaballoo has redirected us to think the way present day netizens behave themselves in the virtual world where every thing is virtual but seems real.Though this time the attack is not calling for banning it but it has, perhaps, stirred the hornet’s nest of many present day technological innovation that have their own inherent ‘curse’ and ‘bane’ shades.

Orkut, which has million of users in Brazil, accounting 55.50 per cent of the total users, followed by the USA and the India, its association with controversies and myths is not new. And that is quite contrast to its intend of becoming an embodiment of the freedom, many of us cherish, and a leading platform for public debates among communities worldwide on important social and developmental topics.

What is Orkut: The bane?

To be an Orkuttian means you are in constant touch with your friends or with a community through visible scraps or through personalized messages. They post their profile– personal, professional and educational—with hobbies and with an array of other elements on Orkut. Moreover, it is a place where one can search for past friends or make new friends of one’s liking. In simple terms, Orkut works as an interface between you and the world around you in a more personalized and safe way.

Stories are abundant how with the help of Orkut a friend has found his long forgotten school friend. For the Brazilian readers, this information is probably old news, how with the help of Google’s forum Orkut, a family reunited after 72 years of separation.

The banned United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), the largest insurgent outfit in the north eastern region, is reportedly using the networking site for targeting the tech-savvy new generation and the people living outside the state, including NRIs to draw their attention and extend its reach. Not to mention about other northeastern terrorist organisation demanding sovereignty, one would find communities or their sympathizers on the site.

What is Orkut: The rumour?

So, that was all about Orkut’s dark and bright side of the site. But, there are many things that are between dark and bright. And it is all about rumours related to Orkut. One of the rumours is about Orkut Buyukkokten, the architect of the Orkut. The rumor comes from the assumption that Orkut gets $12 every time someone registers on Orkut, $10 every time you add a friend, $200 every time you upload a photo and a crisp $1 every time you logout of Orkut.

Secondly, if you do not send out a scrap, Orkut will delete your account. Another myth is that Google is going to charge people for using Orkut.

These are few of the rumours that besides giving bad name to the site, present a poor picture of the site to its users.

Conclusion

With all the weaknesses and strengths, Orkut carries and the fact that this discussion is not going to be the last, we can expect that the said technology would allow better from the good people than bad from the bad people. The real issue is how we counter these messages of hate and radicalism and the way present day netizens cunduct themselves in the world of instant connectivity.

Once a trusted confidante of him and the next moment the most despised friend and a colleague – you will be asking how it has happened? All occurred not within a month or in years, but within a few hours, say within a few minutes.

How can it be possible? It takes months and years plus innumerable trial and errors after which a matrix of relationship is built, but call it fortunate or unfortunate, someone pricks into your relationship balloon, and in no time it collapses with a fragmented soul.

Thanks to Google talk! The incident has occurred with one of my best friend. It has broken his blind belief on friends (who come online and chat) that he used have before. Now, after the incident the fun looking Gtalk terrorizes him. And I find he is not the same person with whom I used to chat nonchalantly. He even doubts on me.

He was not a regular chatter in the world of chatting. The type of chatting he usually used to do was basically one-to-one and personalized to his ex-colleagues, relatives, school friends and peers. And this is what Gtalk or any other interactive platforms are all about.

Few days back, I got online with one of my female colleague from my previous job. It was surprising and ironical at the same time since when we were both working we hardly used to talk, forget chatting. She had a similar story to tell – how chatting has virtually ruined her life.

After continuing two or three lines of chatting, she came to her real self and asked me my opinion about chatting. To keep her happy I wrote ‘awry’. The next sentence from her was asking me to tell the meaning of the word. I told the purpose for which chatting was conceptualized and what it does actually mean. I wrote “away from the correct or expected course” is what chatting is all about.

Well, she didn’t disclose what sort of traumatic experience that she had underwent. But while she was logging out I got the message that she will tell me when we meet. I myself don’t know when we will meet again.

Now coming to my friend’s story. He blurts out everything and spilled it in my mind. Leaving me to ponder hard, very hard.

He told me while answering the simple looking question from her female colleague has landed him to the eyesore of his previous boss. The cordial relationship that he used to have with him has been jeopardized. Well, my friend has left the earlier job under which he used to work.

He says the mistake that he did was only to please his ex-colleague though momentarily. And the question that was asked to him, he adds was premeditated, preplanned to trap him. Well, there is no point in repenting when he had let the cat out of the bag.

With these two real stories that had happened in the life of my friend I have also got bit serious, concerned and cautious while using Gmail coming with Google chat. Since I do chat with my friends, peers and relatives.

In the search to plug such incidents happening with me and with anybody, I took a frantic search, well again in the Google, which has ruined my friend. I found how oblivious we are with the use of gmail and with its tools. We do mail, chat in gmail. But we are limited to its use only and not more than that.

I found Google has an option “to make off the record” any chat you are involved with. By doing so, chats that have been taken off the record aren't stored in your Gmail chat history, or in the Gmail chat history of your contact.

It is matter of prestige that our community name has been added to this site. And who ever has written is a man to be honoured for taking the painstaking and incisive work.

Next http://manipuri.htmlplanet.com/ is a more descriptive website mentioning about songs, drama, novels, essays and research work. A must visit website.

Next comes the pouri http://www.pouri.org/. Do not expect much from this website. It was updated on 08 December 2005. A no, no website.

http://mahasabha.org/ - an official website of the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha is the one that could personalize anybody and it makes the first impression favourable with its front page depictingthe familiar names Dr. Debandra Kr. Sinha, Gopinath Sinha, Hem Chandra Sinha , Uday Sinha, Rajendra Kr. Sinha, Krishna Ballab Sinha, Sundar Mukherjee and address Bhakatpur, Silchar.

Despite the alluring looks of the website, if one expects while clicking the news tab, one would get news, forget it there is no news being the official website and being situated at the heart of our community. The Orkut version of Bishnupriya Manipuri is far better active than this one.

These were few of the names of the websites that probably command respect or disrespect. And how much these websites ventilates the community to the other world. It is not far away from everyone’s guess.

Not believing on the google tool I tried the same in a yahoo tool it failed again. Next I took refuge in another google tool to know so far how many have since the internet came into existence typed Bishnupriya manipuri. It came out with the figure 25000.

So we came out with the two figures first the 23,600 – the total search result available in the google search and the 25000 – the total number of search done by people typing in the internet browsers.
